About the Event

Fall 2021

Every Wednesday, we host UWSGI student club meeting.

We begin every meeting with half-hour chanting (7:00 PM-7.30 PM, EST), which consist of:

- 15-minutes Diamoku chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo

- Evening Gongyo (about 5 minutes)

- 5-minutes Diamoku chanting Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo

- End with Prayers (about 3 minutes)

We chant Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo to unlock our own inherit human potential.

We recite two chapters of the Lotus sutra during our evening prayer (called Gongyo). Everyone is welcome to join us for our optional prayer!

Followed by prayers, we have a study portion where we discuss introductory Buddhist Concepts (7.30 PM - 8.30 PM, EST) relating to everyday life, as university students.

We encourage and welcome everyone to join in on our meetings, regardless of faith!

Nichiren Buddhism is a philosophy for everyone. We encourage others to attend with diverse perspectives, beliefs, and opinions. Respectful dialogue is the goal of all our meetings. If you're interested in learning more, find out more here: https://www.sgicanada.org/about and join our meeting this Wednesday!
